Youth Worker (Vocational Specialist)

  • Fixed term until July 2023.
  • Part-time (60.8 hours per fortnight)
  • Remuneration SCHCADS level 5 dependent on qualifications and experience  + 10.5 % Employer superannuation

About the position

To work as part as an integrated team within YSAS/headspace Frankston to provide vocational assistance to young people with mental illness up to the age of 25 within the Frankston region. The aim of this program is to improve educational and employment outcomes for young people with mental illness.

The IPS Program will help address the additional barriers to employment faced by this cohort. As such the vocational specialist will need to have advanced assessment and planning skills as well as draw on a range of interventions which will enhance the likelihood of vocational engagement for participants. The successful applicant will need to be able to contribute to the development of the program as well as participate in program evaluation activities. This role requires someone who is dynamic and can build the networks and relationships required to enhance vocational outcomes.

 

Your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Develop & monitor individual Vocational Plans for all IPS participants that set realistic goals and plan strategies, to overcome identified barriers to engagement in employment and/or education.
  2. Provide outreach services to participants to support engagement in employment activities.
  3. Work collaboratively with clinical team to determine care and service needs to assist with coordination of care/service needs as required.
  4. Deliver on the IPS Fidelity model and contribute to National program feedback.
  5. Participate in regular supervision with Team Leader.
  6. Ensure client records are up to date, accurate and meet organisational and legislations requirements.
