About the position
The purpose of the Nursing role is to provide direct care to Young people that are admitted to the Residential Withdrawal Units and Rehab Units. The position will facilitate withdrawal / rehab services for young people seeking assistance in their physical detoxification and Rehabilitation from licit and illicit substances use. This position works closely with YSAS General Practitioners, community General Practitioners and residential staff team.
Some of your key responsibilities will be:
1. Assessing urgent medical care, signs of withdrawal, effect of substances, injuries, allergies and current prescribed medication compliance.
2. Facilitation of and participation in daily morning intake and allocation meeting.
3. Development and review of Individual treatment plans in collaboration with young people.
4. Assessment and management of substance withdrawal in collaboration with the primary health team
5. Assess Young people in terms of medications in line with the medication management policy and as directed by the Primary health care team
6. Assessment of mental health issues faced by young people, and determining suitability of young person for admission to the unit
