  • Fixed term until June 2026
  • Part time (15.2 hours per fortnight)
  • Remuneration Registered Nurses level 4 dependent on qualifications and experience + 11.5 % Employer superannuation
  • Identifying as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander is an essential requirement for this role

 

About the position

As a highly experienced and autonomous member of the multidisciplinary YSAS primary health team, the Aboriginal Registered Nurse provides direct primary health care activities to marginalised and at-risk young people entering Victoria’s two Secure Care Units and their stakeholders. Specifically, the role of the Aboriginal Registered Nurse will be tailored towards providing culturally sensitive care to our young people in Secure Care.  

 

About you and how you will be successful in this role

  1. Delivery of culturally appropriate care to young people especially of indigenous background
  2. Delivery of holistic nursing care to young people, addressing their physical and mental health needs through assessments, treatments, and crisis management. It also focuses on connecting them with essential healthcare and community resources, while advocating for their well-being.
  3. Management of medical records and supplies, ensuring regulatory compliance and efficient stock management. It also requires participation in policy development and the creation of detailed clinical reports.
  4. Active participation in advancing YSAS's strategic objectives through policy alignment and improvement implementation. It also involves contributing to quality improvement processes and fulfilling additional managerial directives.
  5. Adherence to all YSAS policies and procedures, ensuring their active implementation and maintenance. It also mandates the completion of all required training.
  6. Prioritising personal and others' safety by adhering to safety legislation and YSAS policies. It also requires actively promoting a safe and healthy work environment.
