  • Remuneration SCHCADS level 7 dependent on qualifications and experience + superannuation

About the position

A highly experienced practitioner who works collaboratively with Out of Home Care, Child Protection and Youth Justice practitioners to provide specialist AOD assessment, advice and coordination of complex care issues, risk management, education and to facilitate access to alcohol and drug treatment.  Client focus is high risk young people residing or exiting from Out of Home Care or Youth Justice Centres; key stakeholders are the Department of Families Fairness and Housing, Child Protection and Youth Justice Services and Youth Justice Centres (in addition to other youth service agencies). Liaising with senior DFFH staff and leaders from other relevant stakeholders, including Out of Home Care providers, the Manager AOD OoHC Services will identify systemic gaps and make recommendations and assist to develop pathways to improve care coordination.

 

Key Selection Criteria  

  1. Demonstrated expertise and experience in utilising evidence-based practice frameworks working with disadvantaged and marginalized young people experiencing complex problems/needs, including AOD, Out of Home Care and harm minimisation principles
  2. Superior understanding of child / adolescent development, attachment and trauma theories as they relate to Youth AOD practice, care planning and case management approaches
  3. Experience in leading critical reflection, applying theoretical frameworks and referring to research and literature to inform case practice and decision-making at a superior level. Ability to lead and inspire others through mentoring, coaching and critical reflection
  4. Effective Communication: Demonstrated history of preparing and delivering logical, sequential and succinct presentations; quickly making a positive impression on others and demonstrating credibility; able to deal with difficult and sensitive topics and questions
  5. Experience in initiating, preparing and presenting cases in highly professional forums, courts or other tribunals at a superior level
  6. Demonstrated high level knowledge of the legislative and operating environment of the Child Protection and Youth Justice systems, including Out of Home Care.
