Youth Peer Worker

  • Fixed Term until 30th June 2026
  • Remuneration SCHCADS 3 level dependent on qualifications and experience + superannuation
  • 5 Weeks Annual Leave
  • Up to $15,900 for living expenses + up to $2,600 towards meals and entertainment can be tax-free through NFP Salary Packaging                                                                                                            

 

About the position

The purpose of the Peer Worker function will be to support young people with initial engagement, , ongoing connection with services, and to help  to consolidate linkages as part of their transition from the program. The Peer Worker is responsible for providing support, guidance, and advocacy for young people aged 12-25 engaged in the BounceBack program, utilising expertise developed through lived experience. 

 

Some of the Key Selection Criteria will be:

1.A lived experience of mental health challenges, who have accessed mental health or other related services specifically to support their mental wellbeing and has the ability to reflect on this with others in supportive communication.

 2.Demonstrated understanding of Youth and Family work ethics and practice approaches

3.Able to advocate effectively for young people, their families and friends, based on their choices

4.Strong skills in developing and maintaining relationships with participants, staff and other key stakeholders.

5.Demonstrated understanding of the biopsychosocial model of mental health 6. Demonstrated ability to facilitate the active involvement of participants and carers in the development, planning, delivery and evaluation of services
