  • Remuneration level dependent on qualifications and experience + superannuation

 About the position

The Nurse Practitioner role is based in Geelong residential withdrawal unit and provides advanced, specialist clinical leadership, assessment, and care for young people admitted to Residential Withdrawal Units, Rehabilitation Units, and Secure Care Units. The position supports the delivery of comprehensive withdrawal and rehabilitation services for young people requiring assistance with physical detoxification and recovery from licit and illicit substance use. The Nurse Practitioner works in close collaboration with YSAS General Practitioners, community-based General Practitioners, and multidisciplinary residential and secure care staff teams to ensure safe, coordinated, and high-quality, youth-centred care across all settings.

Key Selection Criteria 

  1. Demonstrate prior experience practising as a Registered Nurse Practitioner, including, where applicable, specific alcohol and other drug (AOD) clinical experience and initiation of appropriate AOD treatments. Reflect on the aspects of practice you found most rewarding and the challenges you encountered.
  2. Provide examples of how you have developed and maintained positive, professional relationships with young people and external agencies in previous roles.
  3. Demonstrate understanding and application of harm minimisation principles in the delivery of treatment and prevention interventions within the alcohol and drug sector.
  4. Show knowledge and understanding of adolescent developmental issues and their relevance to clinical care and engagement.
  5. Demonstrate familiarity with contemporary approaches to youth-focused drug and alcohol treatment.
  6. Developed interpersonal, written, organisational, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary and complex care settings.
